Application of Machine Vision Detection in Industrial Automation Assembly Lines

Machine vision detection is the use of machines to measure and judge instead of human eyes. Machine vision detection refers to the conversion of the captured object into an image signal through machine vision products (i.e. image acquisition devices, which are divided into CMOS and CCD). Based on the pixel distribution, brightness, color, and other information of the image, the signal is converted into a digital signal through specialized image processing systems. The imaging system performs various operations on these signals to extract the features of the target, and then controls the movement of on-site equipment based on the recognition result.

In the era of Industry 4.0, machine vision can be said to be the soul window of industrial automation systems. From object barcode character recognition detection, product appearance defect detection, appearance dimension measurement, to robot/drive device positioning, all are stages where machine vision technology can play a role, thus its application range is extremely wide, and the industry application field is even more dazzling. With the prevalence of machine vision, machine vision optics has attracted increasing market attention.

Image recognition application of machine vision

Image recognition is the use of machine vision to process, analyze and understand images to identify target objects in various patterns. The typical application of image recognition in the machine vision industry is the recognition of QR codes, which are one of the common barcodes we see in our daily life.

A large amount of data information is stored in this tiny QR code. Through barcode tracking product management, using machine vision systems, various material surface barcodes can be easily identified for reading, greatly improving modern production efficiency.

Image detection application of machine vision

Detection is an important application in the machine vision industry. Almost all products need to be detected, and manual testing has many drawbacks, such as low accuracy, long working hours, uncertain accuracy, slow detection speed, and easy to affect the efficiency of the entire production process.

Therefore, the application of machine vision in image detection is also very wide, such as color positioning and color contrast inspection in the printing process, the printing quality inspection of beverage bottle caps in the packaging process, barcode and character recognition on product packaging, and defects detection in glass bottles, etc.

Machine vision systems for defect detection of glass bottles also include medical glass bottles, which means that machine vision also involves the medical field, and its main inspections include size, appearance defect detection, shoulder defect detection, and bottleneck detection, etc.

Positioning application of machine vision

Machine vision systems need to quickly and accurately locate the tested parts. In the semiconductor packaging field, devices need to adjust the pick-up head based on the chip position information obtained by machine vision, accurately pick up the chip and bind it, which is the basic application of visual positioning in the machine vision industry.

Object measurement application of machine vision

The characteristic of machine vision industrial applications is its non-contact measurement technology, which also has high precision and high-speed performance. Non-contact eliminates the hidden dangers of secondary damage caused by contact measurement. Common machine vision measurement applications include gear, connector, automotive parts, IC component pins, and thread detection.

Object sorting application program of machine vision

In fact, object sorting is based on recognition and detection of a certain link, and is realized by processing the image through a machine vision system. In machine vision industrial applications, it is often used for food sorting, automatic separation of surface defects of parts, and cotton sorting, etc.
